Abby update 8/19
ABBY UPDATE FROM HER FOSTER MOM: She made it thru the night, though still not out of the woods. The ER doctor determined she was severely bloated, but not twisted. She was admitted with an elevated heart rate, lowered BP, 105+ fever , and quickly became unres...ponsive. The tube insertion successfully removed the air, allowing them to work through the night stabilizing her. Unfortunately, the new xrays taken at 9am this morning showed @ 1/3 of her stomach filled with air again; soon after she started to crash (again). The doctor quickly administered medical care to stabilize her and have since been monitoring her. At this time I am waiting for an update and will be visiting her tonight. Poor Abby is fighting so hard รข?? please continue lifting her in prayer. I will post another update after I see her tonight.
Abby, AARF's rescue mastiff is very sick.
Abby was diagnosed with severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She has already started treatment but still doesn't want to eat. Except she'll eat watermelon. She loves watermelon. She is being treated through VRCC but needs help to keep going. Anything you can donate, would help her a lot. Thank you!

Abby's back story: Abby came to us in February of 2010. Her old home wanted her gone. Animal Adoption & Rescue Foundation, www.aarf.org, took her in. We discovered that she was originally bought from a pet store and most likely came from a puppy mill via the Hunte Corporation, a well known, very large, puppy broker. She was sick right from puppyhood. She had GI problems off and on for her entire 5 years. Despite the vets recommendations for a GI work up, they didn't get her any help. The family couldn't take her problems any longer so she was eventually chained outside. This must have been devastating for her since she loves to be around people so much. Abby is now in a very kind, wonderful foster home who is very knowledgeable about the Mastiff breed. They knew something was wrong with her. She never liked to eat. She was losing weight. She just wasn't feeling well. They took her to the vet who ran tests, which led to them referring her to a specialist who ran a complete GI panel. So far the tests showed that she has a very abnormal small intestines, enlarged lymph nodes and other abnormalities. More tests are being done. So far, her bills have run about $2100. I'm trying to collect this money (and more) for AARF in hopes that Abby can get well again and get back to her normal, sweet, goofy self. Abby is so eager to please her people. So please, lets help her in return. She deserves to live even a small part of her life without pain.
